Finally, a nice, balanced article about urban chickens. You know I'd be despondant without mine, and everybody except the cat people seem to love 'em. I consider Portland's rule very reasonable, as 3 hens just isn't anyone's damn business, as it's just really not a thing.
Moreover, I'd challenge anyone not to love my lovely Fergie bird, who is sweeter than stevia and a BBH who loves me almost as much as dandilion greens. Almost.
It's so true about them tasting about a thousand times better, too.

Yes, that's frogs for fun and profit.
There's a whole series of articles on this site that show a dizzying array of animal-raising horror shows from the era where folks declared war on nature.
Do NOT take any of this too seriously, as most of these practices are p'bly illegal in your civilized country. Others are simply silly. Then again, I am of the opinion that there is a middle ground where people can treat animals well and still use them, humanely.
Then again, I just noticed a few years ago how macabe it was to carry around a "lucky" rabbit's foot. I mean, ew. Or, as Matt would say, "people are messed up; people eat blood pudding." I certainly hope I am never that hungry.

Unexpected climate change side effect #987547: death to wool goats. I cannot tell you how sad this makes me. All the money they spend on military in that country and they can't even put up some fodder for those suffering animals. Even if you are daft and don't think that animals suffer, consider the people who keep them. Once again the farmers get fucked while rich men play.

I am a keeper of layer hens, and I know what surprisingly complicated and intelligent creatures they are. That this is allowed to go on is the sort of thing that damns a speices, such as Homo sapiens
Be a real human being and stop supporting the torture of some of the sweetest creatures on Earth. Every "conventional" bite of chicken you eat is at the expense and unnecessary pain of another creature.
