Quite possibly the oddest story I've heard all year. I mean, this guy is old and straight. It's bizzare, and I think tells us more about the mind of a politician than most would want us to know.
Matt was appalled, especially given the stories of food riots lately. He launched into a Prescott and Cartman schtick that had me laughing so hard it was difficult to breathe.
This, of course, is why anorexics feel moral superiority.

Maybe. Only in the People's Republic of Portland do trees have rights. No wonder I moved here. Trees are very well behaved. Even better than hens.
Oh, my poor sweet hens. Please send Maggie good ju-ju. She really needs it.

Then end of western civilization?
And they actually had the nerve to think it was heavy metal -- I can give so many reasons why this is worse, chief among them is that HM gave greasy kids w/o brains something to be a part of and get into, this gives people who should be contributing to society something to distract themselves with while the real world is blowing up around their elf ears.
You don't get to be called smart unless you actually DO SOMETHING.

OK - I'm not really a believer in Astrology, but this one has to make me scratch my head in wonderment. My neighbour is finally going into labour today, and I mentioned that it must be auspicius to have a baby on a lunar eclipse. She thought so too, so I looked it up.
Well, the description sounded so much like myself, that I had to wonder. I looked up my own birth date, 30 June 1973 and lo and behold, I was born right in the middle of one of the longest and most complete solar eclipses of the 20th century: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/SEgoogle/SEgoogle1951/SE1973Jun30Tgoogle.html
